Autumn brings a special kind of magic to Rouge National Urban Park. While the park offers year-round beauty and activities, fall invites us to step outside and soak in the vibrant colours of the season.
The best part? You don’t need to leave the city to enjoy breathtaking fall views. Rouge National Urban Park spans over 79 km², offering countless spots to experience nature’s autumn show right in our own backyard.
You can take in the colours from the comfort of your car with our recommended scenic drives through the park.
19th Avenue — Markham and Stouffville
Located in the northern end of Rouge National Urban Park bordering Markham and Stouffville, 19th Avenue offers a quintessential fall drive. This scenic rural road winds through farmland, where you can admire vibrant autumn colours and catch glimpses of the harvest in progress. Be sure to stop at the 19th Avenue Day Use Area for a photo. These panoramic views stretch across golden fields all the way to the Toronto skyline.
Reesor Road — Markham
Heading south, Reesor Road cuts through the heart of Rouge National Urban Park, making it a perfect route to experience fall colours and the harvest season. Rolling fields line the road, and if you look to your right, you might catch a glimpse of the Toronto skyline with the CN Tower standing tall along the horizon.
Old Finch Ave — Scarborough
Travelling further south, Old Finch Avenue winds past the Toronto Zoo through the scenic Scarborough countryside. Towering deciduous trees frame every twist and turn, creating a tunnel of brilliant fall colours. You’ll be so immersed in the beauty you might forget the zoo is just moments away!
11th Concession — Markham
The 11th Concession in Markham is stunning in the fall. Lined with trees on both sides, this charming country road feels worlds away from the city, despite being in the Greater Toronto Area. A drive along this route is a reminder that sometimes, it’s not the destination, but the journey that makes a moment memorable.
