Fire Information Update – Wednesday June 17th, 2026

The current fire danger in Nahanni National Park Reserve is LOW

There is one new fire in Nahanni National Park Reserve

Location:

Fire coordinates are 61.154042 x -125.070361

The fire is located in the southern portion of the Park Reserve, approximately 25km south of the Nahʔą Dehé (South Nahanni River) and 3km from the Meilleur River.

Status:

The fire is approximately 2.5 hectares in size. The current risk to public safety and infrastructure is low. Minimal fire growth is expected due to recent precipitation. The fire will continue to be monitored by Parks Canada Fire Management staff.

Details:

The fire was detected via satellite on June 14th 2026.

Weather:

Recent precipitation has reduced the fire danger to LOW. Forecasts are predicting a drying and warming trend in weather over the next seven days.

Fire Behaviour:

While fire behaviour is currently low, smoke may be visible as the weather dries out and warms up.
