Water monitoring

Nááts'įhch'oh National Park Reserve

Parks Canada monitors water quality, temperature, and depth within Nááts’įhch’oh National Park Reserve. Staff collect water samples from lakes and rivers during field monitoring work each summer. Samples are analysed for metals, ions, nutrients, pH, and other parameters.

On-going measurements of water temperature and depth are also recorded at stations along several streams and rivers in the park to gather information about seasonal and long-term fluctuations. Small, robust logging devices are anchored underwater, taking continuous measurements of water temperature and depth at monitoring sites.
