Join the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC) and Parks Canada to learn more about the stars, planets, and constellations in the night sky.

Did you know it takes 20 to 30 minutes for the human eye to adapt to the dark? To protect your night vision and that of other visitors, please use only a red light when joining us for night programs.

Friday, August 11

9:30 pm to 10 pm (Sky Circle in Jeremy’s Bay Campground - P1): Tour the Night Sky.

Join Chris Young and Dave Chapman of RASC as they point out summer constellations and share tips for finding your way around the night sky. Bring a blanket if you plan to sit on the field. Please walk (limited parking).

10 pm to midnight (Sky Circle field in Jeremy’s Bay Campground - P1): Telescope & binocular observing.

RASC astronomers on the Sky Circle field will share what’s in their eyepieces. Join Tony Schellinck of RASC towards the back of the field to try your hand at binocular observing. Bring your own binoculars or borrow a pair from Tony. Please walk (limited parking).

Saturday, August 12

1 pm to 4 pm (Merrymakedge Beach – P4): Astronomy Drop-in. 

Stop by for solar telescope observing and learn how to use a StarFinder. Got burning questions? This is your chance to “Ask an Astronomer” or Astrophotographer!

4 pm to 4:45 pm (Sky Circle in Jeremy’s Bay Campground – P1): “Walk the Solar System”.

Learn about planets in our solar system with David Hoskin of RASC. This interactive, kid-friendly activity is sure to please budding astronomers of all ages!
