  • Lantern Walk through Time

Gather at Ingonish Beach day use area near the trailhead sign (just past the canteen), where your costumed guide will appear at the hike's start time and lead you, by lantern light, around the Freshwater Lake trail and along the barrachois.

As night falls and the forest becomes darker, tales of the "old days" come to life, beginning with the area';s early Indigenous peoples, passing onward through history.

Listen to enchanting stories of early European visitors, Irish, Scottish and French settlers, and the area's more recent inhabitants as these local myths and legends materialize in your mind's eye.
