WHAT: Pursuant to section 36(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, the following areas are hereby closed by order of the superintendent, Gros Morne National Park of Canada.

WHERE: The backcountry of Gros Morne National Park. This includes but is not limited to:

• The Northern Traverse
• The Long Range Traverse
• The Gros Morne Mountain Summit Trail and Ferry Gulch Trail
• The Western Brook Pond Gorge Day Hike
• The Big Lookout
• Off-trail hiking route on the Tablelands
• All backcountry camping

WHY: Limited ability to ensure public safety and emergency response due to diminished resources as a result of the ongoing wildfire situation in the province.

NOTE: Any contravention of this notice constitutes an offence under section 24(2) of the Canada National Parks Act. Failure to comply with that Act, the applicable park regulations or this notice may be grounds for prosecution under the Canada National Parks Act.
