Pacific Rim National Park Reserve
Long Beach Unit: PROHIBITED ACTIVITY - Wildlife Viewing from less than 100 metres

WHAT: Pursuant to Subsection 7(1) of the General Regulations of Canada National Parks Act, wildlife viewing is subject to the following conditions:
a. No person shall willfully approach, remain, view, or engage in any activity within
1. 100 metres of any bear, cougar, or wolf, except when completely inside a legally positioned motor vehicle,
2. any distance that displaces or interferes with the free, unimpeded movement of wildlife,
3. any distance that creates or contributes to a potentially hazardous condition or situation
WHERE: All lands within the jurisdiction of Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.
WHY:
a. Reduce or prevent habituation of wildlife.
b. Protect wildlife from disturbance and stress.
c. Ensure visitor safety during wildlife viewing.
WHEN: At all times, unless indicated otherwise.
PENALTY: Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25 000.
