Pacific Rim National Park Reserve

Area Closure: West Coast Trail - October 7 to April 30

WHAT: Pursuant to Section 36(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, no person shall access (by land or by vessel), or travel the West Coast Trail of Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, other than in accordance with this notice.

Day use access is permitted between the Pachena Bay trailhead and kilometer 8, subject to a valid National Park Reserve permit and while accessing and exiting the trail via Pachena Bay trailhead on the same day. Overnight use is not permitted.

WHERE: West Coast Trail of Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, excluding km 0 to 8 from the Pachena trailhead where day use is permitted. Refer to the map above.

WHY: To preserve the carrying capacity of the natural environment and infrastructure, and to ensure visitor safety.

WHEN: Every year, from October 7 to April 30, until further notice.

PENALTY: Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25 000.
