Restricted activity order: Travel in Kootenay National Park

Issued: January 01, 2018

What: By order of the Superintendent, and pursuant to Section 7.1 (2) of the National Parks General Regulations, travel within Kootenay National Park has been determined to be a “designated activity” requiring authorization in the form of a park entry pass.

Where: Throughout Kootenay National Park.
 
Exception: Persons traveling without stopping along Highway 93 South do not require a park pass.
 
Why: Entry fees support the conservation and management of the national park and fund facilities and services that benefit park visitors.

Penalty: Violators may be charged under the National Park Regulations: maximum fine $25,000.
