National historic sites

Waterton Lakes National Park has two national historic sites located within its boundaries:

• Prince of Wales Hotel National Historic Site, designated in 1993.
• First Oil Well in Western Canada National Historic Site (the site of western Canada’s first producing oil well), designated in 1968.
• Bar U Ranch National Historic Site is located within the Waterton Lakes Field Unit, 160 km north of the park on Highway 22.
