Restricted Activity: Travel on Geraldine Road during construction of the Caribou Conservation Breeding Centre

What:

Pursuant to subsection 7(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, the following activity is restricted or prohibited by order of the Superintendent:

From October 1 to June 8 annually:

The Geraldine Road is closed to all public traffic.

From June 9 to September 30 annually:

The Geraldine Road is open to public traffic subject to the following restrictions:

During working hours (typically 07:00 to 19:00), road access will be subject to traffic control measures. Only motor vehicles will be permitted access during these times, and work schedules are subject to change without notice. No pedestrian, bike, e-bike, or equestrian access will be permitted on the road during these times. All vehicles are required to follow direction given by traffic control personnel.

During non-working hours, the road will be open to all users.

Where:

In Jasper National Park on Geraldine Road from km 0.0 at Wabasso Road (93A), to km 1.44, south of the construction boundary, as delineated in yellow on the attached map.

Why:

To ensure public safety during construction of the Caribou Conservation Breeding Centre.

Penalty:

Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25 000.
