What

Pursuant to subsection 36(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, the following area is closed to all traffic and travel by order of the Superintendent, in order to conduct wildfire risk reduction work.

Where

The area along the Lake Edith trail #4g, extending toward Maligne Lake Road, including the connection with trail #7 and trail #7g. The closure extends 30m on either side of the trails listed. Please refer to the closure map for a graphic description of the area.

Why

To ensure public safety during wildfire risk reduction work, including mechanical fuel reduction activities. Crews and heavy equipment operating in the area creating safety hazards including tree felling, moving machinery and smoke.

Penalty

Violators may be charged under the National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25 000.
