Special caution is recommended while travelling or camping in this area due to the following:

Why:

A black bear is frequenting the area. The bear has shown bold or unconcerned behaviour around people and may investigate campgrounds.

Where:

Lower Fryatt Campground and the Fryatt Valley Trail in Jasper National Park

What:

To minimize the potential of a bear encounter you should:

• make noise to alert bears of your presence
• travel in groups of 4 or more
• always keep a safe distance away from bears
• ensure all food, garbage, & pet food are stored in bear-proof lockers
• carry bear spray and know how to use it
