Lake Louise, Yoho & Kootenay Field Unit 

WHAT: Pursuant to Section 7(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, of the Canada National Parks Act, the following activity is restricted or prohibited by order of the Superintendent: 

Travel by motor vehicles is restricted on Moraine Lake Road. 

Exceptions permitted June 1 - October 14, 2024: 

• Commercial vehicle operators who have a valid Moraine Lake Road Add-on Licence or After Hours On-call Transportation Service Add-on Licence 

• Parks Canada shuttles 

• Roam Public Transit 

• Personal vehicles displaying a disabled parking placard 

• Guests, staff and contractors to Moraine Lake Lodge 

• Emergency services 

All other vehicles not meeting these exemptions are prohibited. 

WHERE: Moraine Lake Road, Banff National Park 

WHY: To ensure safe access and egress into and out of the area. 

PENALTY: Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25 000.
