RESTRICTED ACTIVITY - Panther, Dormer and Red Deer Valleys

WHAT: Pursuant to Section 7(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, of the Canada National Parks Act, the following activity is restricted or prohibited by order of the Superintendent: Travel anywhere except on designated trails within the Bison Reintroduction Zone as indicated on the attached map. Any off-trail use is prohibited without a restricted activity permit except to maintain a safe (>100m) distance from bears or bison or to camp within 200m of designated trails in random camping areas of the Panther, Dormer and Red Deer Valleys.

WHERE: Bison Reintroduction Zone which includes all of Panther and Dormer drainages and portions of the Red Deer and Cascade drainages in Banff National Park. As per map attached.

WHY: To prevent disturbance of reintroduced bison as they adjust to their new home range. |
PENALTY: Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25 000. |
