Restricted activity: Angling - Catch and release angling only
Pursuant to Section 35(1) of the Canadian National Parks Act Fishing Regulations, the possession limit is zero on all waters in Banff National Park, except for:
1. Lake trout on Lake Minnewanka reservoir for which the possession limit shall remain 2 fish; and
2. Johnson Lake for which no fishing is allowed at all.
Where: Banff National Park
Why: To reduce the potential spread of whirling disease through the improper disposal of fishes.
Penalty: Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25 000.
