WHAT:  Pursuant to Section 7(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, of the Canada National Parks Act, the following activity is restricted or prohibited by order of the Superintendent:

WHERE: Rampart Campground is closed to all tents and tent trailers.

WHY: A black bear that has sought and obtained human food is frequenting the area.

Anything that has an odour or could be considered food may attract wildlife to your site. Never leave ANY of these items unattended at your campsite:

·         Coolers - full/empty

·         Food - open/ closed

·         Garbage / Wrappings

·         Dishes / Pots

·         Pet Food / Bowls

·         Bottles / Cans

·         ANY item associated with food preparation

Please report all bear sightings to Banff Dispatch at 403.762.1473 or Parks Canada Staff.

PENALTY:  Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25 000.
