BEAR WARNING - Upper Lake Louise

WHAT:  Special caution is recommended while travelling or camping in this area due to the following:

WHERE: Upper Lake Louise including the lakeshore area, Louise Creek Trail, Lake Louise drive, southwest portion of the Bow River Trail, and Lake Louise Campground  

WHY: Grizzly bears frequenting area.
Pay attention for bears when travelling in the area:

·        Make noise while hiking

·        Keep all pets on a leash

·        Carry bear spray and knowing how to use it

·        Maintain a safe distance between you and any bear.

·        Cyclists and trail runners: Your speed and quietness put you at risk for sudden bear encounters. Slow down through shrubby areas and when approaching blind corners.

Report all bear sightings immediately to the Visitor Center or Banff Park Dispatch at 403.762.1473.
