Active fires in Saoyú-Ɂehdacho National Historic Site

August 3, 2023 – Parks Canada is carefully monitoring three active wildfires burning within the boundaries of Saoyú-Ɂehdacho National Historic Site. These fires pose no risk to the community of Délı̨nę at this time. The fires are less active right now but can expand quickly under certain conditions.

  • Fire 1 is 36 hectares in size and is located on the Ɂehdacho Peninsula
  • Fire 2 is 13 hectares in size and is located on the Saoyú Peninsula
  • Fire 3 is 1 hectare in size and is located Saoyú Peninsula.

There are 21 active fires in the region as a whole.

Closures & warnings

There are no closures or warnings issued at this time. Local residents and visitors are advised to monitor conditions closely and avoid the area if possible.

Weather

There is extended period of sunny warm weather with moderate winds predicted through into next week. Environment Canada has an air quality warning in effect due to smoke.
