Hours of operation July 1 to September 2, 2024

The visitor centre is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Recommended visiting time: Allow 30 minutes to explore the visitor centre.

Canso Islands National Historic Site is located on the Canso waterfront, in a small seaside community on Nova Scotia's east coast. Canso is a 3.5-hour drive from Sydney or a 4-hour drive from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Travel along the beautiful Marine Drive through picturesque fishing communities.

The boat service has returned for the 2024 visitor season. Enjoy the free boat shuttle service to and from Grassy Island.

The boat service will operate from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., weather permitting and on a first-come, first-served basis. Visitors may take a trip to the island for a 40-45 minute self-guided tour.
