L'Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site
L’Anse aux Meadows is located on the tip of the Northern Peninsula, 433 km north of Deer Lake along the Viking Trail (Route 430). The site is a short, 51 kilometre drive from the St. Anthony airport and a 5 hour drive from Gros Morne National Park. Plan to spend at least three hours touring the restored sod buildings, visitor centre, hiking trails, and enjoying engaging visitor programs, seasonal events, and sweeping coastal and bay views.

Parks Canada is offering free admission and discounted overnight stays at participating locations, from June 20 to September 2, 2025 inclusive.

Directions
L’Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site is located on the tip of the Northern Peninsula, 433 km north of Deer Lake along the Viking Trail (Route 430). The Viking Trail begins at the town of Deer Lake on the Trans-Canada Highway (Route 1). 20 km before St. Anthony, turn onto Route 436 and drive for 30 km to L’Anse aux Meadows.
