Weather Advisory

Good Afternoon,

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a special weather statement due to the risk of freezing rain. Between 20 and 30 millimetres of freezing rain are expected between Wednesday and Thursday.

The following regions are expected to be among the most affected areas:

Ontario: Centre and East – Snow, ice, and flood risks forecast for Ontario this week - The Weather Network

Quebec: Outaouais, Laurentians, Lanaudière, and Greater Montreal  –  45 mm de verglas, 40 cm de neige : voici les secteurs les plus à risque - MétéoMédia

As a result, given the weather and travel conditions that will affect these regions:

  • Employees should monitor local weather conditions (The Weather Network) along with any Public Safety warnings to determine if there are any conditions, delays or closures that may impact them. Employees and supervisors should discuss any concerns together, such as schools or daycare being closed, general transportation and power outages.
  • On March 11 and 12, employees who normally have the ability to telework may do so after receiving approval from their manager. Managers are encouraged to exercise flexibility wherever possible.
  • Please note that operational requirements may not allow all employees to work remotely. In such situations, employees who have concerns should discuss them with their manager. Managers must take reasonable measures to support employee safety while maintaining essential operations. If an employee wishes to remain at home due to weather conditions but telework is not approved, they may request leave in accordance with their collective agreement or terms of employment.

Thank you for your cooperation and for keeping safety at the forefront during this weather event.
