Update about Transformation

Dear colleagues,

I would like to provide you with an update on Parks Canada’s transformation work. In December, I told you about how we are navigating several significant initiatives, including the Comprehensive Expenditure Review, Budget 2025, our own ongoing sustainability work, and our evolving approach to how we deliver our services on behalf of Canadians.

As promised, the Transformation team, under Andrew Campbell’s leadership, has now been created and their work is underway. To date, Hugues Michaud, Stephane Rondeau and Laurie Wein, are at the core of the Transformation team. They are dedicated to managing the coordination of interconnected initiatives and ensuring the organization has the structure in place to welcome our evolution. By centralizing the oversight function within the Transformation team, we can move at a pace that supports Parks Canada’s long-term objectives while prioritizing the wellness and stability of our team members, who are Parks Canada’s greatest asset.

In the coming weeks, Andrew and his team will share details about the Transformation team’s objectives, processes, and timeline using familiar communications channels like all-staff messages, ParksNet, and Flash Info.

At Parks Canada, we have been through periods of change before. History has shown that our organization is agile and remains a valued contributor to government priorities, and more importantly to the fabric of Canada, in any context. That is because Parks Canada has always been, and will continue to be, an organization that Canadians and governments trust and value. Parks Canada-administered places have a positive impact on local economies and provide vital ecosystem services. Canadians want to visit these places, and they want them protected for future generations. While the context shifts, our mandate endures, and we continue to play an important role in government priorities.

I want to remind you that we are collectively leading this initiative. It is a continuation of our sustainability work, and our focus is on directing resources to priorities to improve our organizational sustainability and prepare us for the future. To reach our goals, we are gathering a great deal of information and we are committed to providing clear opportunities for you to provide feedback and share your perspectives throughout this process.

I want to personally thank each of you for your continued professionalism and dedication to our mission and for your patience as we work together to reshape our future.

Reminder to managers: In keeping with Parks Canada's procedures for communications with employees, managers are responsible for ensuring all team members under their responsibility receive the information intended for them. It is important that you find a means to transmit this message and, if any, the attachment(s) to employees without access to Parks Canada e-mail or the intranet, e.g. by posting it, circulating a paper copy or by any other appropriate means.
