Stay sharp, stay safe: Security every day!

Hello,

Today marks the beginning of the Security Awareness Week. This is a fantastic opportunity to review our security practices and identify improvement opportunities.

The theme this year is "Stay sharp, stay safe: Security every day!" Through our individual and collective efforts, we can safeguard our people, processes, and organization.

To sharpen your reflex, we invite you to visit the Security Awareness Week ParksNet page which contains a quiz, and more information related to security at Parks Canada.

Here are some key points to keep in mind:

  • Safeguarding privileged information: Each of us has a responsibility to protect privileged information to prevent leaks or breaches. Remember, even if an information is unclassified, it does not mean it can be shared publicly.
  • Physical security: Ensure your files and devices are properly secured when unattended.
  • Misinformation and disinformation: Be cautious of sources and fact-check what you read. The spread of false information threatens our security and credibility.
  • Emergency procedures: Make sure you know what to do in the case of an emergency affecting your building or your site. Speak with your supervisor if you need help reviewing or locating the emergency procedures.

Familiarize yourself with what your Departmental Security Office can offer and the ways we can protect ourselves.

Thank you,

The Departmental Security team
