UNESCO’s World Heritage Convention is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2022.

UNESCO World Heritage Convention 50th and Canada sites
The World Heritage Convention helps to protect the shared heritage of humankind for the benefit of all peoples, now and forever.
20 of Canada’s heritage places have been inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. They are known for their Outstanding Universal Value.
These sites represent some of humanity’s most outstanding achievements and nature’s most inspiring creations.

Landscape of Grand-Pré World Heritage Site, Nova Scotia
UNESCO flag raising ceremony

Time: 7:00pm to 7:10pm
Attend the UNESCO flag raising ceremony with the team from Grand Pré. Interpretive tours begin at 12PM, followed by a BBQ at 6PM, a flag raising at 7PM, and end the day with live music and a ghost walk!

Open Door Tour of Grand Pré

As part of the 10th anniversary of the Landscape of Grand Pré becoming a World Heritage Site, and the 50th anniversary of the UNESCO World Heritage Convention, Landscape of Grand Pré Inc. is offering an open-door tour of points of interest located at the site. The Open Door day will start at 10h.

UNESCO rock art guided tour at Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park, Alberta

Discover the rock art of the Áísínai’pi and Niitisippi in a guided tour of the Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park Archeological Preserve in Alberta. Learn about why this has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tours run at select times throughout the month of September and October.

Guided bus tour and hike
