Le frère Marie-Victorin, F.É.C. (1885-1944)

Botanist, author and educator, Brother Marie-Victorin played a major role in the scientific movements of his time. Author of Flore laurentienne, he was also the founder of the Institut botanique de l'Université de Montréal and the Jardin botanique de Montréal. His discoveries and innovations, including a new approach to botany, were of international importance. He also helped to improve the teaching of science at primary, secondary and university levels. Marie-Victorin's scientific and literary achievements won him recognition at home and abroad.
