Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area

Approximately 10,880 km2 in size, Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area occupies approximately one eighth of Lake Superior and one third of the Canadian side of the lake. Once established, it will be the largest freshwater protected area in the world.

Conservation

The management and ecologically sustainable use of this vast area will ensure its conservation for the enjoyment and appreciation of present and future generations of Canadians.
