Back in five minutes

Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area

By Marlene McBrien

As we contemplate a return to the workplace, we likely hold within us a wave of feelings – perhaps of stress and anxiety. We can all use a brief water meditation from Lake Superior right about now. Take five minutes for yourself… to travel to these shorelines… to listen to these waves… to feel its beauty… to reflect on its strength… and its place in our world.

Let’s begin by reminding ourselves of the true waves that bring us together along the shoreline of Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area. These waves originate far out in the depths of an unimaginable vastness, landing on its shore bringing stillness, peace, and perspective. Lake Superior, an inland sea holding ten percent of the Earth’s available fresh water, has its own energy and reverent spirit. Let’s really listen and be present in its strength, beauty, and force, celebrating these waves, and reminding us of the importance of sustaining this freshwater source.

Post a note that says you’ll be back in five minutes, and join us in a water meditation from the shores of Lake Superior.
