Restricted Activity: Restricted sprinkler use

Pursuant to Section 7(1) of the National Park General Regulations the following restrictions are in place by order of the Superintendent:

TURNING ON SPRINKLERS FOR STRUCTURAL PROTECTION

WHERE:   Waskesiu Lake townsite

WHY: The Superintendent has established this restriction to:

a)Enable residents to set up their own structural protection in a safe way;

b)     Reduce impact on water treatment plant

c)      Reduce impact on drinking water and structural firefighting water capacity.

Acknowledging;

d)     Sprinklers will not be turned on. Response personnel may turn the sprinklers on strategically if and when required;

e)     Only lakefront properties have ability to draw water from the lake using pumps/hoses without impeding roadways, other properties.

f)       Hoses/pumps and other equipment must be stored, maintained and re-fueled on a flat surface, outside the dripline of trees and upland of the high water mark and in such a way as to prevent any deleterious substances from entering the water.

g)     Hoses and other equipment will not impede roadways or other properties;

h)     Sprinkler systems must be indicated with the Parks Canada supplied poster in the front window of the building

PENALTY: Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act. Maximum Penalty $25,000.
