PETERBOROUGH, ON – November 5, 2025 – As part of ongoing efforts to carry out essential infrastructure repairs, a temporary closure of the Trans Canada Trail crossing at Lock 20 will be required later this week.

This closure will allow for the installation of a temporary (“Bailey”) bridge across the canal. The bridge will provide a safe and functional crossing from November 2025 through April 2026, while Parks Canada completes the replacement of the upper and lower lock gates at Lock 20.

The trail will reopen to the public once the Bailey bridge installation is complete and will remain accessible until construction begins on the gate replacement work.
