Rouge Beach – Closed for construction
Issued: November 24, 2025
Access to Rouge Beach and the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail is temporarily closed until 2027 as part of planned improvements to the area. Please respect all closure notices to stay safe.
The map below offers a suggested route around the closed section of the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail at Rouge Beach. This route may not be suitable for all users. Visitors and commuters who typically use the pedestrian bridge to access the GO station or the TTC may choose an alternate on-road route.
Parks Canada understands this closure may be frustrating for visitors and local trail users. We recognize how important this area is for recreation, active transportation and waterfront access.
The closure is necessary to safely complete major improvements that will restore sensitive wetland and forest habitat, upgrade visitor facilities and create a new designated trail connection between Rouge Beach and Mast Trail.
Heavy construction activity, unstable ground conditions and the lack of safe access for emergency and service vehicles require a full closure of the entire area until work is complete.
These upgrades represent a significant investment in Rouge National Urban Park and will provide long-term benefits for visitors, wildlife and surrounding communities. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we build a more sustainable and accessible experience for visitors.
