Area Closed 
Effective date: December 9, 2025 

Activities Restricted: Pursuant to section 36(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, the following area is closed and restricted to authorized personnel only by order of the Superintendent, Elk Island National Park: 

Where: Tawayik Lake Road, Tawayik Day Use Area, Tawayik Lake Trail, Shirley Lake Trail and surrounding area. 

Why: To support visitor safety during the winter season. 

Penalty: Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25,000.
