What:
Pursuant to Section 7(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, the following activities are prohibited by order of the Superintendent: No person shall use or possess a metal detector in Georgian Bay Islands National Park, except as authorized by a permit issued by the Superintendent.

Where: 

All managed lands, docking facilities and waters within Georgian Bay Islands National Park of Canada.

Why: 
To reduce impacts on the ecological integrity of the park and for the protection of cultural resources.

Note:   
Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act and other applicable Provincial/ Federal legislation. Failure to comply may result in immediate eviction from Parks Canada property.
