Apply anytime! Due to the nature of the academic year we recommend starting the process in the summer, however, we are always interested in hearing from potential future volunteer leaders!

• Full time or part-time enrolment at a post-secondary institution in Canada;
• Passionate about Canada’s protected places;
• Strong leadership, organizational and time management skills;
• Creative and innovative thinking in order to engage your peers virtually and safely in-person; and
• Able to create and expand social networks.

As a campus club volunteer leader, you will have a few key responsibilities which include:

• Participating in an orientation call with Parks Canada;
• Participating in a Volunteer and Funding orientation session with Parks Canada;
• Establishing a new campus club or maintaining an existing club and organizing activities on digital platforms;
• Coordinating in-person activities on campus or at Parks Canada places provided that infectious disease protocols and local public health directives are observed;
• Providing members with the information to make themselves aware of local public health regulations affecting their activities;
• Commitment to practicing health and safety protocols (COVID-19);
• Serving as the main contact for the Parks Canada Campus Club Volunteer Leaders Network and activities coordinator for your club;
• Managing campus club finances and leading fundraising to help support your Campus Club activities;
• Networking with other campus social organizations to create awareness of your club;
• Creating and maintaining a strong social media presence to promote club activities to the broader student population;
• Informing fellow students about amazing volunteer and job opportunities within Parks Canada;
• Completing the annual questionnaire;
• Providing feedback to Parks Canada;
• Recruiting another volunteer leader before the end of the school year and facilitating a smooth transition;
• The campus club volunteer leader is responsible for ensuring that the club complies with the rules and regulations of the Student Association/Student Union regarding the club’s constitution, access to a storage space, receiving donations from external sources, etc;

• Welcomes volunteer leaders;
• Provides specific training for the role;
• Maintains a virtual network with all volunteer leaders;
• Supports the planning of club activities (outings and local conservation efforts);
• Manages the national promotion on social media and the web;
• Supports some learning opportunities delivered by Parks Canada experts.
