Kluane National Park and Reserve
Kokanee salmon fishery closure
Issued: May 08, 2026
Pursuant to subsection 35(1) of the National Parks of Canada Fishing Regulations, no person shall, while fishing within Kluane National Park and Reserve, retain Kokanee Salmon.
This order is created to protect the kokanee salmon whose adult spawning numbers have dropped drastically in recent years. The continued existence of this population is dependent on the public’s cooperation with this order and visitors are requested to not target kokanee as a catch and release species.
