Yukon North Slope Patrol

Ivvavik National Park

The North Slope Patrol, based out of Inuvik, plays a vital role in monitoring and protecting the Yukon North Slope region, an ecologically rich and culturally significant area along the Arctic coast. Working closely with local Inuvialuit communities, this snowmobile patrol conducts regular trips to monitor wildlife and ecosystems, as well as maintain a Canadian presence in the region.

Their work includes supporting scientific research, promoting traditional ways of knowing, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. The annual North Slope Patrol provides valuable wintertime data about the sensitive habitat for species such as caribou, muskox, and migratory birds.
