PRECAUTIONARY BOIL WATER ADVISORY UPDATE - Seasonal water turn on in Waskesiu

Issued: May 26, 2026

Ends: May 12, 2026

WASKESIU LAKE, SASKATCHEWAN, May 26, 2026 – The precautionary boil water advisory in Parcel X (Bird Streets) has been lifted.

Water has been restored to Fern and Lily streets in Subdivision 3. There is a precautionary boil water advisory in effect while water testing is completed.

The Narrows campground does not have water. Pit toilets are available.

We appreciate your continued patience and support as the team works to ensure water services are fully restored and safe for all campers and residents.

With the water lines are turned off over the winter there is potential for contaminants to accumulate. When the water is turned back on in the spring, the lines are flushed and disinfected to ensure potability of the water. Parks Canada tests the water to ensure it meets safety standards and further third-party testing confirms the water safe to drink after two negative tests.  The results of final testing can be several days after the water is turned on.

When water utilities are depressurized, sedimentation may occur within the water lines on individual properties. Following the restoration of water services, residents should run taps for at least 5 minutes to clear any discoloration, particles or excess chlorine from their water lines.  Waterlines should be flushed by residents for an additional 5 minutes after water in their subdivision has been declared potable.

Until results of all water tests are received and information is posted publicly, Parks Canada recommends all campers and seasonal residents in Waskesiu boil water for a minimum of one minute before consuming. Other areas of Waskesiu are not affected by this precautionary boil water advisory.

Potable water is available at the Visitor Centre and main beach washrooms.
