Thousand Islands National Park
Wolf and Hawk loop trails temporarily closed
Issued: November 17, 2025
Ends: December 31, 2025
This fall, updates will be made at the entrance to Wolf & Hawk Loop Trails in Thousand Islands National Park. The project will include creating a new eight-space parking lot, to offer a safer parking experience at this location, along with the opportunity to refresh trailhead infrastructure. This includes adding educational signage about ecological connectivity and species protection, as well as information on visitor services.
Construction will begin the week of November 17, 2025, and is planned to be completed before the end of the year.
Visitor safety is of the utmost importance for Parks Canada. Access to the Wolf and Hawk Loop trails will be temporarily closed during the parking lot construction.
The Landons Bay and Jones Creek trails remain available to the public as an alternative for those looking for local hiking trails. However, it is important to note that the operating season for Thousand Islands National Park ends after Thanksgiving long weekend and trails are not maintained in the off season.
There will be minimal disruptions to traffic during construction. The road is not expected to be closed, but there will be temporary traffic control on the adjacent roadway while the initial off ramp from the road to the parking lot is built. There will be a flagger present when heavy machinery is operating in the area. Drivers should be prepared for brief stops in traffic on weekdays throughout the construction period.
Detailed information about specific milestones and adjustments to the timeline will be communicated as the project progresses. Please follow @TINationalPark on Facebook and check the park’s website for updates.
Parks Canada would like to thank the public for their understanding and cooperation during this construction project.
