Changes that may affect your visit

Following the gradual easing of public health restrictions in Nunavut, Parks Canada reopened Qausuittuq National Park to visitors on July 1, 2022.

Due to COVID-19, services and facilities in Qausuittuq National Park are limited. Visitors should begin planning well in advance of their trip to ensure the services they require are available. This is an evolving situation and information will be updated as it changes.

• The Qausuittuq National Park office in Iqaluit is now open to the public. To reach Parks Canada staff, email nunavut.info@pc.gc.ca or call 867-975-4673.
• Orientation, registration, permitting and fee collection are currently being offered remotely. Visitors must contact Parks Canada staff at least two weeks in advance of their planned arrival to arrange a date and time for the mandatory orientation.
• Transportation to and from the national park must be arranged with a licensed outfitter. Contact Parks Canada for a current list of licensed outfitters and tour companies.
• Visitors must follow all applicable travel restrictions and public health guidelines from the Government of Canada and the Government of Nunavut.

Emergency Services and Visitor Safety

When travelling in Qausuittuq National Park, your party should keep in mind that you are exploring hazardous terrain in a remote Arctic location with limited personnel and potentially long delays in rescue response (sometimes days). Your best resource for safety, first aid and emergency rescue is your own party. Your group must know its limitations and be able to self-rescue.
