Notice – Fire ban
Cape Breton Highlands National Park
Effective Immediately – Until Further Notice
For the purpose of fire prevention, the Superintendent has declared a full fire ban in Cape Breton Highlands National Park. This fire ban is pursuant to section 3(1)(c) of the National Parks of Canada Fire Protection Regulations
The starting or maintaining of fires anywhere in Cape Breton Highlands National Park is prohibited at all times. This prohibition also includes fires in campfire pits and kitchen shelter woodstoves, as well as Tiki torches, turkey fryers, and charcoal or wood BBQ briquettes.
The following are exceptions to the ban:
- The safe and conscientious use of propane /gas camp stoves and lanterns.
Fines for violation range from $352.50 - $25,000.
