Dogs prohibited on barrier islands and Kellys Beach boardwalk

Pursuant to section 4(5) of the National Parks of Canada Domestic Animals Regulations, it is prohibited to let enter or bring a dog on the boardwalk at Kellys Beach, or onto any portion of the barrier islands (dunes) within Kouchibouguac National Park of Canada (see attached map).

This prohibition is in effect until March 31^st, 2024.

Anyone found in violation of this notice may be prosecuted under Section 24(2) of the Canada National Parks Act.

Conservation measures for soft-shelled clam fishing

Pursuant to sections 7.6 (1), 20.1 and 35 (1) of the National Parks of Canada Fishing Regulations, the following conservation measures will apply within Kouchibouguac National Park of Canada from May 13^th to September 17^th, 2023.

• The daily catch and possession limit for soft- shelled clams is 75, and over 5 cm in overall length.
• Fishing for soft-shelled clams is permitted within Kouchibouguac National Park except where waters are closed for scientific research or bacterial contamination (see map).
• Use of a plunger for fishing clams is prohibited.

These measures are taken for the protection and the proper management of the soft-shell clam fishery.

Anyone found in violation of this notice may be prosecuted under Section 24(2) of the Canada National Parks Act.

Closed areas for piping plover breeding

Pursuant to section 7(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, it is prohibited to enter and travel in areas closed for Piping Plover breeding (see attached map).

This prohibition is in effect from April 15^th until August 31^st, 2023.

This action is taken to protect the Piping Plover, an endangered species.

Anyone found in violation of this notice may be prosecuted under Section 24(2) of the Canada National Parks Act.

Delivery of goods without permit is prohibited

Pursuant to section 7(1) of the National Parks General regulations, it is prohibited to deliver or convey any building materials, construction materials or equipment, or any portable structure anywhere in Kouchibouguac National Park of Canada without a permit from the park Superintendent.

This prohibition is in effect until March 31^st, 2024.

Anyone found in violation of this notice may be prosecuted under Section 24(2) of the Canada National Parks Act.

Use of tern island prohibited

Pursuant to section 7(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, it is prohibited to enter and travel on Tern Islands.

This prohibition is in effect from April 15^th to September 30^th, 2023.

Tern Islands are barrier islands located between Blacklands Gully and St. Louis Gully (see attached map).

This action is taken to protect an important breeding area for Common terns in New Brunswick and for nesting Piping Plovers.

Anyone found in violation of this notice may be prosecuted under Section 24(2) of the Canada National Parks Act.

Eel fishing restrictions to season and limits

Pursuant to section 35(1) of the National Parks of Canada Fishing Regulations, the following restrictions apply to all waters located within Kouchibouguac National Park of Canada.

American Eel

• No person shall fish and retain an American eel that is less than 53 cm in length during the open season of May 14^th to August 31^st, 2023 (with line or spear).
• No person shall fish and retain an American eel less than 20 cm during the open season of December 15^th 2023 to February 15^th, 2024 (spear only).

Firearms in prohibited areas

Pursuant to section 16(1) of the National Parks of Canada Wildlife Regulations, possession of firearms is prohibited in Kouchibouguac National Park except on:

• Highway 117.
• Kouchibouguac Village Road from the Park boundary to Highway 117.
• Loggiecroft Road from Highway 117 to Loggiecroft wharf.
• Cap St-Louis Road from the Park boundary to Cap St-Louis wharf.
• Marked channel leading from Loggiecroft wharf to Northumberland Strait.
• Marked channel leading from Cap St-Louis wharf to Northumberland Strait.
• Loggiespit road between Highway 117 to Park boundary.

In the excluded areas above, firearms must be transported in a vehicle or vessel and must be unloaded and in a case pursuant to Section 20 of the Wildlife Regulations. This prohibition is in effect until March 31^st, 2024.

Anyone found in violation of this notice may be prosecuted under Section 24(2) of the Canada National Parks Act.

Importing fire wood prohibited

Pursuant to section 7(1) of the National Parks General regulations, it is prohibited to import (introduce) fire wood within Kouchibouguac National Park of Canada.

This prohibition is in effect until March 31^st, 2024.

Anyone found in violation of this notice may be prosecuted under Section 24(2) of the Canada National Parks Act.

Importing fire wood prohibited

Pursuant to section 7(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, it is prohibited to use a metal detector within Kouchibouguac National Park of Canada.

This prohibition is in effect until March 31^st, 2024.

Anyone found in violation of this notice may be prosecuted under Section 24(2) of the Canada National Parks Act.

Restrictions on the use of motorized boats

Pursuant to section 21 and 26 of the National Parks General Regulations, motorized boating is permitted in waters within Kouchibouguac National Park with the following restrictions:

• Night-time boating in park waters is permitted only within marked channels on the Kouchibouguac and Kouchibouguacis rivers.
• Personal watercrafts (“Jet ski”) are prohibited in all park waters.
• Overnight anchoring (mooring) of boats outside the designated lease area of the wharves is prohibited.
• When launching a motorized boat in the park, an approved day-use launching site at Cap Saint-Louis or Loggiecroft wharf must be used.

This prohibition is in effect until March 31^st, 2024.

Anyone found in violation of this notice may be prosecuted under Section 24(2) of the Canada National Parks Act.

Personal Use Permit Required

Pursuant to section 7.1(2) of the National Parks General Regulations, the following designated activities in the Park require a personal use permit (“entry permit”):

• Camping
• oTENTik and Ôasis
• Hiking and walking
• Canoeing/kayaking/boating
• Biking
• Beaches and swimming
• Geocaching
• Cultural interpretive exhibits
• Interpretive programs
• Special events
• Day use and picnic areas
• Boat launches and docks
• Viewing areas
• Trailside exhibits
• Cross country skiing
• Snowshoeing
• Winter shelters
• Parking
• Fishing

Additional permits are required for camping, accommodations and fishing.

This notice is in force until March 31, 2024.

Anyone found in violation of this notice may be prosecuted under Section 24(2) of the Canada National Parks Act.

Dogs prohibited on cross country ski trails

Pursuant to section 4(5) of the National Parks of Canada Domestic Animals Regulations, it is prohibited to bring a dog on the groomed ski trails within Kouchibouguac National Park of Canada (see attached map).

This prohibition is in effect until March 31, 2023.

Anyone found in violation of this notice may be prosecuted under Section 24(2) of the Canada National Parks Act.
