Public Notice - Trailered watercraft - Clear Lake - Restricted/prohibited activity orders

Pursuant to section 21 of the National Parks General Regulations motorized watercraft, water-skiing equipment or sub-surface diving equipment is permitted on the waters of Clear Lake, Lake Audy, and Moon Lake.

Pursuant to subsection 7(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, the following Restrictions and Prohibitions apply to Trailered Watercraft use in Riding Mountain National Park

  1. Trailered Watercraft

    Trailered Watercraft use in Riding Mountain National Park is RESTRICTED to CLEAR LAKE and during the hours of 06:00 to 24:00, daily. Access to Clear Lake for trailered watercraft is RESTRICTED to Boat Cove.

  2. Mandatory Inspections for Aquatic Invasive Species and Inspection Permit

    Trailered Watercraft entering Clear Lake must undergo a mandatory inspection for aquatic invasive species by Parks Canada watercraft inspectors. All watercraft operators must possess a valid inspection permit and abide by permit conditions issued under section 7(5) of the National Parks General Regulations.

  3. Outboard Marine Motor types that are permitted on Clear Lake, Moon Lake & Lake Audy

    Any marine outboard motor used on any water body in the Park where motorized vessels are permitted must be either electric, 4-stroke or a direct fuel injected 2-stroke engine. The use of all other internal combustion marine outboard motors is PROHIBITED on all Park waters.

  4. Drain, Dry, Clean is in effect

    When a person removes a Trailered Watercraft from a water body, he or she must, before leaving the shore

    1. CLEAN i.e., remove Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) and aquatic plants from the watercraft, trailer, vehicle, and all water related equipment.
    2. DRAIN all water from the watercraft and water related equipment and open all drain plugs and valves on the watercraft
    3. DRY completely or decontaminate the vessel and all water related equipment before placing into another waterbody
  5. Overnighting and Mooring on Park Waters

    Overnighting in or on a watercraft is PROHIBITED on all waters in the Park. Mooring (fastening, tying or securing by any means) a watercraft overnight to docks, beaches, or a wharf without a permit is PROHIBITED on all waters in the Park.

  6. Personal Watercraft (PWC) on Park Waters

    The use of personal watercraft is PROHIBITED on all waters in the Park.
