PURSUANT TO SECTION 3(1) (c) OF THE NATIONAL PARKS FIRE PROTECTION REGULATIONS, THE STARTING OR MAINTAINING OF FIRES IN PRIOR CENTENNIAL CAMPGROUND IS TEMPORARILY PROHIBITED BY ORDER OF THE SUPERINTENDENT OF GULF ISLANDS NATIONAL PARK RESERVE.

The prohibition includes campfires, charcoal briquettes, tiki torches, candles and any open flames. The only appliances exempt from the fire ban are gas or propane stoves and barbeques specifically designed for cooking food, and CSA/ULC certified portable campfire apparatuses with a flame less than 15cm. This temporary ban has been put in place due to increased fire danger. This notice becomes in effect on July 1st, 2022.
