RESTRICTED ACTIVITY: Alcohol and cannabis ban in effect for summer long weekends

WHAT: Pursuant to Section 7(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, the possession and consumption of cannabis and cannabis products during summer long weekends is prohibited by order of the Superintendents.

Pursuant to Section 13(b) of the National Parks Camping Regulations, of the Canada National Parks Act, the possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages is hereby prohibited during summer long weekends by order of the Superintendents.

WHERE: Campgrounds in Banff National Park, including:
• Castle Mountain

• Johnston Canyon

• Lake Louise Hard-sided

• Lake Louise Overflow

• Lake Louise Soft-sided

• Mosquito Creek

• Protection Mountain

• Rampart Creek

• Silverhorn Creek

• Tunnel Mountain Trailer Court

• Tunnel Mountain Village I

• Tunnel Mountain Village II

• Two Jack Lakeside

• Two Jack Main

• Waterfowl Lakes

 

DATES:

• Victoria Day long weekend: Friday, May 16 to Monday, May 19, 2025

• Canada Day long weekend: Friday, June 27 to Wednesday, July 2, 2025

• Heritage Day/BC Day long weekend: Friday, August 1 to Monday, August 4, 2025

• Labour Day long weekend: Friday, August 29 to Monday, September 1, 2025

 

Policies are in effect from 7 a.m. on the first day until 11 a.m. on the last day.

 

PENALTY: Violation of this prohibition may result in immediate cancellation of your camping permit, eviction from the campground, or charges under the Canada National Parks Act; maximum penalty $25 000. Camping fees will not be refunded.
