Lake Louise, Yoho & Kootenay Field Unit

WHAT: Pursuant to Section 7(1) of the National
Parks General Regulations, of the Canada
National Parks Act, and Section 16(1)(f) of the
National Parks Highway Traffic Regulations, the
following activity is restricted or prohibited by
order of the Superintendent:
Travel by motor vehicles is restricted on
Moraine Lake Road.

Exceptions permitted:
• Commercial vehicle operators who have
a valid Moraine Lake Road Licence of
Occupation and Visitor Access Licence
• Parks Canada shuttles;
• Registered guests, staff and contractors of
Moraine Lake Lodge;
• Emergency services.

All other vehicles not meeting these exemptions
are prohibited.

WHERE: Moraine Lake Road, Banff National
Park

WHY: To ensure safe access and egress into and
out of the area.

PENALTY: Violators may be charged under the
Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty
$25 000.
