AREA CLOSURE: Abbot Pass

WHAT : Pursuant to Section 36(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, of the Canada National Parks Act, the following area is closed to all traffic and travel by order of the Superintendent:
Abbot Pass and associated access routes from Lake O'Hara, the Lower Victoria Glacier, and via the Fuhrman Ledges as well as the mapped surrounding area shown.
WHERE: Abbot Pass (see attached map).
WHY: Recent degradation of the slope supporting the Abbot Hut poses a safety risk to visitors.
PENALTY: Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25 000.
