WHAT:  Special caution is recommended while travelling and camping in the area.

WHERE: Lindeman Campground to Deep Lake – Chilkoot Trail National Historic Site

WHY: A black bear sow and two cubs are using this section of the trail. It’s the beginning of berry season and natural food sources are plentiful on this stretch of trail. This group of bears has been respectful of hikers.

·       Travel in groups

·       Make noise while hiking

·       Carry bear spray and know how to use it

·       Maintain a safe distance between you and any bear

·       Carefully manage all bear attractants. Keep your pack within arms reach or in a bear locker.
