Immerse yourself in the captivating history of Canadian art during the Journées de la culture 2024!

Exclusive activity

On Saturday, September 28, 2024 only, join a special tour of the Manoir-Papineau estate, where guides will introduce you to the artistic legacy of renowned Canadian painters ranging from Joseph Légaré (1795-1855), art collector and politician, to Napoléon Bourassa (1827-1916), architect, sculptor and son-in-law of Louis-Joseph Papineau. You'll have the chance to discover the unique murals painted by Mr. Bourassa in his studio on the second floor of the Granary.

Schedule: special guided tours on Canadian art take place at 11 am and 1:30 pm. The manor remains open from 10 am to 5 pm, and regular guided tours are also offered.

Location: inside the Manoir and in the Granary.

Language: special guided tours on Canadian art are offered in French only.

Accessibility: the entrance to the manor has a door with a rather high exterior threshold, providing access to the first floor of the building only. Five (5) steps lead up to the upper floor, where the guided tour takes place. There is no elevator to the upper floors of the manor. There are several steps to climb to enter the Granary, and a staircase to climb to reach the studio on the second floor. The guided tour is audiovisual, with paintings presented visually and verbally.

Conference

Join Claude Baribeau, holder of a master's degree in history and author of several publications, for a conference about the history of Louis-Joseph Papineau. The event is free and open to the general public.

Schedule: 2 pm to 3 pm

Location: at the Family Museum

Language: in French only.

Accessibility: the entrance to the Family Museum is step-free. The space is vast and bright, with a single floor and plenty of chairs for resting.
