Coteau-du-Lac National Historic Site

Parks Canada and Mountain Equipment Company present Learn to Camp, a nationwide program designed to enable all Canadians to take part in various workshops focused on the discovery of camping.

The Learn to Camp program gives you an opportunity to camp one night on the site of Coteau-du-Lac National Historic Site. Parks Canada specialist welcomes you with the necessary equipment.

It's the best way to become familiar with outdoor activities and learn at the side of experts. Don’t miss your chance: places are limited.

Fees and reservation


Coteau-du-Lac National Historic Site, 308-A, chemin du fleuve, Coteau-du-Lac, Québec, J0P 1B0. Participants must go to the site themselves.


Beginning Saturday July 15 at 1:00 pm. Ending Sunday July 16, 2023, at 12:00 pm.

  • $77.00 for the first person in the group/family per tent
  • $19.25 for each additional person in the group/family 7 years +
  • Free for children 6 and under

To register for the event, please contact Parks Canada from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm EDT (Monday to Friday).

Space is limited so reservations are required. Reservations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.

The last day to cancel is July 7th. (One week prior to the beginning of the event). Cancellations received more than seven (7) days before the date of the event will be fully refunded. No refund will be issued if you cancel your registration seven (7) days or less before the date of the event.

All participants MUST attend one of these sessions. A Parks Canada representative will contact you to confirm which session you will attend. The session will be in English and French.

This event will take place rain or shine.




  • 1:00 pm: Arrival, registration of participants and putting up tents
  • 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm: Workshops and activities
  • 5:30 pm: Dinner BBQ
  • 7:30 pm: Marshmallows around the campfire, musician
  • 10:00 pm: End of the activities


  • 8:30 am to 9: 30 am: Yoga by the river
  • 9:30 am: Breakfast (brunch)
  • 10:30 am: Departure preparation

  • Tent and sleeping pads
  • Meals (Dinner on Saturday and breakfast Sunday) and snacks

What to bring
  • Sleeping Bags (sleeping bags are NOT provided. Please ensure you have one for each member of your group).
  • Pillow
  • Suitable, comfortable clothing for the outdoors (remember that it can be cool at night so bring a variety of clothing so that you will be able to layer for warmth)
  • Pyjamas
  • Rain gear
  • Comfortable and supportive shoes (you will be involved in many different activities, so be prepared to be on your feet)
  • Bug spray
  • Sunscreen
  • Water bottles
  • One cup, one bowl, one plate, one fork, spoon, knife PER PERSON
  • A hat to protect you from the sun
  • Personal toiletries
  • Any personal medication
  • Items for young children (bottles, diapers, etc.), toys and books for the kids
  • Your health card
  • Flash light and/or headlamp

  • Pets
  • Fire arms/or weapons
  • Illegal drugs / Cannabis
