Lock 41 - Gamebridge

Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site

Lock 41 is the gateway to the beautiful and historic Talbot River section of the Trent-Severn Waterway. It is the first of five manual locks in an eight-kilometre stretch that rises to overcome a total lift of 22.2 metres (72.7 ft). Gamebridge is extremely popular for road travelers who use the station to take advantage of the large green area. The town of Beaverton, which is fully served, is located just a 5-minute drive south on Highway 12.

The Balsam - Simcoe Division of the Trent-Severn Waterway is of national historic significance due to its relatively unchanged structures, mechanisms, and manner of operation, representative of the early 20th century period. The base of the old swing bridge remains at Gamebridge Lock 41, and its location along Highway 12 makes it a nice roadside stop.
